Does Stanford with its university population of college kids have a large number of nannies available. If you are looking for nannies in Stanford you might be surprised that there are not too many available. Stanford college students are usually coming from wealthy families and so the need for many college students to make some money on the side is not a given. The ones that are in Stanford on scholarships or sponsored tuition programs might be more inclined to take on extra work – including working as nannies or babysitters, but you probably know what I am going to say already.
There are not many nannies in Stanford.
However, not all is lost if you are a parent with the need for having a nanny for your little one(s) in Stanford. Several businesses are providing nanny services for you to choose from. Some agencies are acting like employment agencies or temp agencies while others are more the man in the middle and provide you with contact information for nannies and do background checks. Some agencies or nanny services on the Internet allow you to post jobs. Applicants that have signed up with the provider will then apply for your job offering and you can hire them that way. Either way, you still have some interview work to do to hire a nanny.
I prefer the services where I can post jobs for nannies or babysitters on a case by case basis. The advantage is faster access to a larger pool of nannies – even when time is of essence. Often the providers do some sort of pre-screening including a full criminal and financial background check. Nannies will also list a full profile or resume so that you can find one with the right skill set. For you in that case all that is left is an easy interview. For one you only have to decide if you like the nanny and if your child seems to react positive to the nanny as well. Second you just need to check on availability and workout some smaller issues until the nanny can start working for you.
By the way – many service providers work nationwide and so you can look for nannies not only in Stanford and surrounding cities, but all across the US.
